Tūhono - Privacy Policy

This policy sets out how the Tūhono Trust (“Tūhono”, “us”, “we”, or “our”) treats personal information collected and received on the websites at www.tuhono.net and www.tuhono-research.net. This policy tells you what personal information we collect, how we use and share that information, and finally, how you can contact us with questions or concerns about your privacy. This policy should be read in conjunction with our Terms of Use.

What information does Tūhono collect about me?

When you visit www.tuhono.net, www.tuhono-research.net or the Tūhono mobile device application, you will be asked to provide us with some personal information about yourself via the “Sign-In” and “Join Now” sections. Participation is entirely voluntary. We need information about you so that you can become a Tūhono member and carry out the services described below.

The information that you enter in the “Sign-In” and “Join Now” sections is considered to be personal information. This is because it can be used to identify you personally and includes, for example, your name, date of birth and email address.

The information you provide is stored by us for as long as you remain a Tūhono member, or for as long as necessary to achieve the purpose we collect it for.

How does Tūhono use the personal information I provide?

We use the personal information you provide in the “Sign-In” and “Join Now” sections to identify you, to validate your identity, to contact you, to send prizes, and to maintain and administer your Tūhono member account.

Tūhono will use your personal information only to communicate with you and for its disclosed purposes.

All personal information is kept strictly confidential and will not be disclosed to any other person, company or organisation. The only exception to this is where you enter a competition or register for any promotional feature through the websites or mobile device application. In this case, information about you may be provided to third parties to administer the services or to advertisers for marketing purposes. However, you will be given the option at the time of entering the competition or registering for the feature to decline from receiving further information or from having further contact with Tūhono or the advertiser.

Tūhono may also be required by law to disclose personal information you provide. Tūhono will only make the disclosure if it believes in good faith that it is legally required to do so.

What security measures are in place?

For your security and privacy any details that you provide when becoming a Tūhono member are entered and stored on our secure administration site. We are constantly reviewing and upgrading security measures to ensure the best protection to you.

Are there any linked websites?

It is important to note that these websites contain links to other sites not controlled by Tūhono. These websites may not follow the same privacy policy as Tūhono. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites. We encourage you to be aware when you leave our websites and read the privacy policies of other websites that you visit. This privacy policy applies only to www.tuhono.net and the Tūhono mobile device application.

Does Tūhono monitor its website traffic?

Tūhono uses “Sitecore” and “Google Analytics” measurement software and systems to help measure traffic visiting our websites. The service anonymously aggregates site visit statistics, such as number of pages viewed time spent on site, and also randomly asks visitors to complete anonymous short site surveys. Named a leader in Gartner’s 2013 Web CMS Magic Quadrant for the Fourth Consecutive Year, Sitecore has been adopted as an accepted audience measurement standard by major national and international brands across multiple industries (www.sitecore.com). Sitecore is responsible for aggregating all information - individuals cannot and will not be identified. The information is used by Tūhono to better understand usage of its websites. Limited data is also made available to advertising and media organisations in line with this privacy policy. Google Analytics shows Tūhono the full customer picture across ads and videos, websites and social tools, tablets and smartphones. This makes it easier to serve our customers. For more information about Google Analytics visit www.google.co.nz/analytics

Tūhono reserves the right to change this policy at any time. Any changes will take effect immediately after they are posted on the www.tuhono.net and www.tuhono-research.net websites. You should periodically review this policy to review any changes. Your continued use of our websites indicates your acceptance of the particular policy that is posted on the websites at the time of use.
